Why Your Landing Page Gets Clicks But No Enquiries
Your ad is running. The budget is going. Clicks are coming in from Google or Meta. But the enquiries are not. You check the ad — it looks fine. You check the targeting — seems right. What you are not checking is the page people land on after the click. That is almost always where the problem sits.
Most business owners I meet treat their landing page like an afterthought. They spend three days crafting the perfect ad and three hours building the page. The ad job is to get the click. The landing page job is to get the enquiry. If the page is weak, no amount of ad spend will save you.
The first thing I look at when someone says their ads are not working is the headline on the landing page. Not the ad headline — the page headline. In most cases it either repeats the company name or says something vague like 'Welcome to Our Services.' The visitor just clicked because they had a specific need. If the first line they read does not match that need, they leave in under five seconds. Your headline must answer one question: what is in it for me, right now?
The second problem is trust. A visitor landing on your page for the first time knows nothing about you. They are deciding whether to fill a form or call you in about 15 to 20 seconds. If your page has no client logos, no testimonials, no real numbers, no recognisable social proof — you are asking a stranger to trust you with zero evidence. I have seen manufacturers in Pune and service businesses in Bengaluru fix their enquiry rate simply by adding three real client quotes and a short before-after result. Not fancy design. Just proof.
Another mistake I see constantly is too many options on one landing page. A good landing page has one goal. One offer. One call to action. When you put five services, two contact forms, a WhatsApp button, a newsletter signup and a video all on the same page — you are creating confusion. Confused visitors do not enquire. They leave. If you are running separate ads for separate services, each ad needs its own dedicated page. This is non-negotiable if you want the math to work. If you want to know exactly where your current page is losing people, a proper brand analysis will surface those gaps quickly.
Page speed is something Indian business owners rarely talk about but it kills conversions silently. Most landing pages I audit load in 7 to 11 seconds on a mobile connection. Over 60 percent of your traffic is on mobile, often on 4G in tier 2 cities. If the page takes more than 3 seconds to load, nearly half your visitors have already gone. This is not a design problem. It is a technical problem — usually caused by uncompressed images, too many plugins or cheap shared hosting. Fix the load time before you run another rupee of ads.
Forms are another silent killer. I have seen landing pages with 11 fields asking for name, email, phone, city, budget, timeline, company name, designation and more. Every extra field you add reduces the chance someone fills it. For most Indian B2B or service businesses, three fields are enough — name, phone number and one qualifying question. That is it. You can get the rest on the call. The goal of the form is to get the conversation started, not to gather a dossier.
If you are not sure whether your landing page issue is isolated or part of a larger website and communication problem, it helps to take a step back and do a business growth diagnostic of the full customer journey. Sometimes the landing page itself is decent but the offer is unclear, or the pricing communication breaks trust, or the follow-up after enquiry is slow. All of these connect. You cannot fix conversion by only looking at one piece.
Here is what I would suggest you do this month. Pull up your landing page on your mobile phone — not your desktop. Read it like a stranger who just clicked an ad. Ask yourself: does the headline match what the ad promised? Is there visible proof that others have worked with you? Is there one clear action to take? Does the page load fast? If any of these answers is no, you have found your problem. You do not need a new ad campaign. You need a better page. If you want someone to go through this with you properly, a one-to-one consultation is the fastest way to get clear on exactly what to change and in what order.
